DotActiv Lite: Loading Excel templates directly into a new planogram

If you’re a DotActiv Lite user, you now can load Excel templates directly into a new planogram.

Why does it matter?

If you’re a current user of DotActiv Lite, you’ll know that when loading an Excel template into DotActiv in the past, you first had to use an option to load an Excel sheet, which then sat in a structure in the background.

Following that, you had to open a tree view and drag and drop your products onto your planogram, or populate a new planogram with data from the Excel sheet. Regardless of which way you did it, it was time-consuming.

That is why we decided to introduce this update. We wanted to ensure you could import your data into a planogram with as few clicks as possible.

Besides cutting down the time spent, this enhancement was also introduced to support the removal of ‘Projects’, which is the basis upon which DotActiv Lite was built.

How does it work?

To understand how this new feature works, let’s take you through it briefly.

Upon opening DotActiv, click on the ‘New Gondola’ function under the Space Planning tab. A Properties window will open up, which allows you to choose your dimensions.

Once you’re happy with your dimensions, click the Data tab and navigate to the ‘Import to Planogram’ function.

You don’t have to have a planogram open for this to work. For example, you can open DotActiv, navigate to the Data tab, and click the ‘Import to Planogram’ function.

By clicking on the ‘Import to Planogram’ function, a file directory window appears and allows you to choose to open an XLS file. Find the file you want and double-click on it to import. By importing data into DotActiv, it automatically creates a planogram for you.

You can start working on your planogram.
