DotActiv Lite: Drop CSV files into DotActiv to trigger importing

Importing data into DotActiv Lite has never been easier. For example, you can drop a CSV file into DotActiv to trigger importing.

Why does it matter?

If you wanted to import a CSV file into DotActiv Lite, this is how you did it:

You had to click on an option to open the import dialog, after which you’d click another button to select the XLS file that you wanted to import. In short, there was no direct way to import your data.

That’s why this update matters. That’s the reason why we wanted to introduce this. At DotActiv, we’re always looking for new ways to increase the usability of our software. Also, our software already has a drag-and-drop functionality available.

Thus, this isn’t an entirely new feature as it’s an improvement on what is already available to you.

How does it work?

Upon opening DotActiv, navigate to the Space Planning tab and click on the ‘New Gondola’ function in the ribbon.

When using a CSV file, a new gondola must be opened. Once you’ve selected a new gondola and added your dimensions, a file directory window appears. This allows you to choose the CSV file you want to drag and drop into DotActiv.

By dragging and dropping your CSV file into DotActiv Lite, you are taken automatically to your Import mapping window. This automatic triggering of your mapping window removes the need to go into your Data tab.

Once in this window, you can begin to map your fields to their locations. Again, a side note: the importing of your data works best when you use the DotActiv template.

For example, you should map data into each of the DotActiv dimensions - Market, Product, Period, and Fact. You can choose to import without facts. In that case, you don’t need to fill in your Period. Once you’ve mapped your CSV file to the DotActive fields, you can choose to import.

You can now start working on your planogram.
