As a DotActiv Lite user, a recent update to our entry-level solution means you can now update an existing planogram with data from an XLS file.
Why does it matter?
If you wanted to update an existing planogram with data from an XLS file, you’d know that it took time to complete. Similar to the process followed to load data into DotActiv, you had to open a tree view and drag and drop your products onto your planogram.
As for the reason to do away with the old way of doing this, it’s simple. The backend structure to first hold the data before going to a planogram was old legacy code which was cleared to streamline our application.
More than that was the need to drop ‘Projects’.
Also, it was an unnecessary overhead when all the data from an Excel sheet could reside directly in a planogram product report.
DotActiv Lite allows you to load an Excel template directly into a planogram. Read about that specific update here.
How does it work?
Upon opening DotActiv, navigate to the ‘Space Planning’ tab and click on ‘Open’ to find the planogram that you have been working on.
You can also drag and drop an existing planogram into DotActiv to begin this process.
To update your planogram with revised sales and unit’s data - or insert new lines - navigate to the ‘Import to Planogram’ function. However, ensure that you click on the drop-down arrow. Doing this will allow you the option to update an existing planogram.
A file directory window will pop up, allowing you to select the updated XLS file.
Once you’ve selected it, an ‘Update Planograms’ window will appear where you can choose which fields to update. At the bottom of this window, you can choose between a few options.
You can either ‘Insert Only’, ‘Update Only’, or ‘Insert and Update’. There are also two checkboxes, allowing you to specify whether you’d like to update the products on the shelf or update all products. More than that, if currently working on more than one planogram, you can also select which one you want to refresh.
Once you’re happy, click ‘OK’ and you’re ready to continue working on your planogram.
